Luz Rivera

Luz Rivera arrived on a J-1 visa in January 2022, finished her program and then married her husband in May 2023. As an immigrant, Luz Rivera understands the stress of going through the different government and immigration procedures.

Luz Rivera holds a law degree from Colombia, where she practiced law for five years. She worked on the legal teams of government and infrastructure projects in Colombia, handling contracts, human resources, and legal compliance.

Luz Rivera began her U.S. legal support career as a Legal Assistant with TennCare in 2024 and joined Smallbone Law in 2026. She primarily assists with family-based immigration matters, helping clients navigate the process of obtaining lawful permanent residence and, ultimately, U.S. citizenship. She also assists clients seeking to bring family members to the United States through consular processing.

After immigrating to the United States, she drew on her personal experience navigating immigration procedures to develop a deep understanding of the patience, resilience, and uncertainty that the immigration process can involve.
