Lily Ying, Paralegal at First Class Immigration

Paralegal

Lily Ying

Lily Ying has personally experienced many of the challenges that come with navigating the U.S. immigration system. She came to the United States as an F-1 student, later worked in H-1B status, and went through the PERM labor certification process herself. These experiences gave her firsthand insight into the uncertainty and complexity of immigration and a deep appreciation that immigration is not simply a legal process, but one that profoundly affects people’s lives. Behind every case is a person, a family, and a future.

Lily has more than eight years of experience in immigration law, business law, civil litigation, and criminal law. At Smallbone Law, she works with clients ranging from corporations and highly accomplished professionals to undocumented individuals and families seeking immigration relief, and she provides Chinese-language support to clients.

Lily holds a Ph.D. in Political Philosophy from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. After completing her Ph.D., she transitioned to the legal field and earned her J.D. from Nashville School of Law. She previously earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Philosophy from Fudan University in Shanghai, China. She passed the bar examination and is admitted to practice in Tennessee.

She currently serves as a paralegal with Smallbone Law and plans to transition to an attorney role with the firm in the future, where she will provide legal services directly to clients. Lily lives in Tennessee with her husband and two children and enjoys a quiet family life. Outside of work, she enjoys reading and cooking with her husband.
