Nashville immigration lawyer
Nashville is where most Middle Tennessee immigration cases are decided in person. Both the USCIS field office and the biometrics center are in the city.
Your case happens here, mostly
If USCIS schedules you for an interview, whether that is a marriage green card, an adjustment of status case, or a naturalization interview, it is almost certainly at the USCIS field office in Nashville. Fingerprints and photographs are taken separately, at the Application Support Center on Donelson Pike. Two different appointments, two different addresses, and the notice you receive tells you which is which. Bring the notice.
Removal cases go to Memphis
Tennessee has one immigration court, and it sits in Memphis. If you or a family member is in removal proceedings, that is the court with your file, roughly three hours west. In practice a great deal of it now happens by video, and whether you appear in person or on a screen depends on the judge and the type of hearing. Either way the filing deadlines are the court's, not the drive's.
Consular cases are not local at all
If your spouse or parent is abroad, the case leaves the country: USCIS approves the petition, the National Visa Center takes over, and the interview happens at the consulate where they live. Nothing about that stage depends on where you are in Tennessee, which is why we handle those cases the same way for a client in East Nashville as for one in another state.
Getting to us
Our office is in Franklin, about twenty-five minutes down I-65 from downtown Nashville outside of rush hour. Most Nashville clients never make the drive: a consultation by video or phone is the same conversation with the same attorney, and the documents move electronically. If you would rather sit across a desk, that is what the Franklin office is for.
Common questions
Do I have to come to Franklin to work with you?
No. Consultations are available by video and phone, and most of a case is documents and filings rather than meetings. Clients who prefer to meet in person are welcome at the Franklin office.
Where will my green card interview be?
For applicants living in the Nashville area, at the USCIS field office in Nashville. Your interview notice states the address and time. Biometrics are a separate appointment at the support center on Donelson Pike.
My hearing notice says Memphis. Is that right?
Almost certainly yes. Memphis is the only immigration court in Tennessee, so cases from across the state are heard there. Check whether your hearing is in person or by video before you plan the trip.
General information, not legal advice for your case. Office locations and court assignments change; the notice you received from USCIS or the immigration court is the authority on where to be and when.
